The Autism Society San Diego held their 17th Annual Splash for Cash fundraiser on Sunday April 29, 2018.  The event raised money to support the many, popular aquatics and family programs offered by the organization through Pool PALS-Pool for Persons with Autism Learning to Swim.  This was the most successful event ever held with over $54,000 raised.

The money raised will offset the cost for 90 local children, teens and adults to attend Surf Camp for Persons with Autism held at La Jolla Shores.  The surf camp started in 2002 and provides one on one, autism experienced surf instructors for each and every participant to maximize their fun and beach experience while insuring they remain safe.

A portion of the money raised will provide swimming lesson scholarships for autistic children and adults to learn to swim.  Most individuals with autism require one on one instruction when they are first learning to swim. The cost for lessons is often prohibitive for many families.  Through the scholarship program, individuals receive 3 months of one on one lessons with swim teachers skilled in working with autistic persons.  With the money raised we will be able to provide 210 scholarships in 2018.

The remaining money will be used to support our free monthly, family pool and gym parties held year round.  Each month over 200 people attend these events where their entire family can enjoy a fun evening out in a supportive and safe environment.

The Splash for Cash 2018 was successful in large part due to the generous donations of our sponsors and supporters including the Nemeth Foundation who also had the event team who raised the most money; Flex Watches; Lincoln, Gustafson, Cercos LLC; Aqua Pros Swim School; Shelly Van Brabant, Realtor Coldwell Banker; Bridges Educational Corporation;  and Headhunter Suncare.

On May 30, 2018 the Alexander and Eva Nemeth Foundation had the pleasure and honor to be one of the power sponsors of the Women of Dedication Salvation Army Luncheon.

The Luncheon was held at the San Diego Marriott Marquis and honored the 2018 class of 12 Women of Dedication. These ladies are individuals who have consistently dedicated their time, resources, talent and heart to help those in need.
